Black Week (Periods 1-7)

Needing a TA:  Ms. Stauffer is looking for a TA, 1st period.  If you have an elective 1st period and want to be considered, please see Mr. Bushnell or Ms. Stauffer.  Ms. Stauffer would really appreciate the help of a Spanish speaking student, but would appreciate any well behaved, motivated student to apply.


Soccer:  Game is at home TODAY.  Go out and cheer on your team!  This week, practice will be Tuesday and Thursday. 


Picture Make Up Day:  Picture make up day will be Wednesday, September 25.  Pictures will be taken in PE classes.


Appelley Publishing Student Poetry Contest:  Over $4,000 in prizes.  $500 first place prize for grades 6-8.  Cash prizes for entering (random drawings).  Mailing deadline is November 7.  All pertinent information can be obtained at   Flyer with additional information has been sent to all teachers.  Good luck to our budding poets!


School Site Council:  Voting will take place September 26th and 27th for student site council member.


Scholarship Opportunity: 2020 Prudential Spirit of Community Award.  Now accepting applications to honor students’ volunteer service.  Have you volunteered over the last year? Apply at or  You could win a $1,000 scholarship, a medallion and a trip to Washington D.C. Application deadline is November 15, 2019.


Kindness Campaign:  In honor of our first pillar of personal conduct (kindness), we will recognize students who exhibit kind behavior in class or around campus.


If you collect 3 yellow “Kindness” wristbands or yellow tickets, you may take them to the counselors’ offices, where you will be able to exchange them for one of the following items:

            -VVMS earbuds and case                                                         

            -VVMS Spirit Wear-baseball cap or t-shirt (as supplies allow; we are out of Youth  size)

            -VVMS drawstring bag                                                            


In addition, you will automatically be entered into a school raffle to win a lunch party for you and a few of your friends (you select the food you want for the party, pizza, In and Out, Chipotle, etc.).  Each time a student turns in 3 wristbands or tickets, they will also earn 20 points for their “House” to earn a house party!



End of Summer Party:  Leadership will be hosting a party to celebrate the end of summer.  The party is open to all grades from 3:30-5:30 on Thursday, September 26, and will be held at various locations on campus.  There will be games, music, food, cookie decorating, races, dancing and much more.  Admission is free.  Make sure to bring money for food.  Permission slips will be handed out this Wednesday, during 7th period, and must be turned in by lunchtime on September 25.  There will be a collection table in front of the office for that purpose.   A signed permission slip is needed in order to attend. 


Art Competition:  Leadership is holding an art competition that will end on September 25.  The art will be evaluated on originality, color, and completion.  There is no specific theme, but there should be no blood, gore, explicit images, language, etc.  The prizes will be house points.   First place will also win an art kit.  You must have your full name, house color, and grade on the back of the paper to be eligible to win. Turn in your submission to D1 any time or at a table in front of the office on Sept. 25.

Kindness Messages for 6th Graders:  Across from the EPod bathroom there are flyers for each 6th grade student. The flyers have your names on them, along with words of encouragement or kindness. We want to welcome you to Valley View and would like to make you feel a part of our community. Please find the flyer with your name and take it off the wall. Leave all others where they are. 6th graders-we are happy you're here and we hope the best for you for this school year. We hope you make new friends and feel welcomed.
