Valley View’s Newest Club: The Linkbot Roboplay Club
Valley View hosted its first after school Linkbot RoboPlay Club meeting on Wednesday, September 10 with almost forty students attending. Students were busy in groups exploring the robots and accessories, and seeing what they could make the robots do without computers. Next week they will get to start programming, and will be using C++ as their programming language.
Club members will work with Linkbots, motorized robot models with a variety of accessories developed at the UC Davis Center for Integrated Computer and STEM Education. They will learn to program the robots using C++ programming in a student-friendly program environment.
The meetings take place on Wednesdays from 2:30 to 4:00 in room D8 (Mrs. Hawes’ classroom). Mrs. Hawes and Mrs. Tkachuk serve as the club faculty advisors and instructors. Two community members will also serve as club advisors. Students from College Park’s robotics club will act as mentors and coaches.
Students interested in the club should go to D8 on Wednesdays after school. Questions can be directed to Mrs. Hawes at firstname.lastname@example.org.
