GIRL Camp- Summer Opportunity
Thanks to the Patrick and Shirley Campbell Foundation, Valley View will be hosting a Girls in Robotics Leadership (GIRL) camp June 15-19, from 8 am - 5 pm. This camp has been designed by the C-STEM Center at UC Davis in order to motivate girls to learn computing and STEM concepts through a fun and exciting robotics-based curriculum. We hope this leadership camp will enable them to serve as leaders and inspire other young girls to gain interest in science and technology. The GIRL Camp is free for camp participants, and girls from at least two different middle schools are invited to participate.
Girls who are currently in sixth and seventh grade may apply to participate. Space is limited, and applications are due by April 30.
Career Day Volunteer Speakers Needed
The 8th grade class is looking for volunteer speakers to speak to the students on May 15th from 12:30 to 2:15.
Speakers would share about their careers, discuss the training needed to qualify for their careers, and answer questions from the 8th grade students.
We would prepare a format for speakers to follow to make it easy. It is a great way to help Valley View 8th graders hear about different careers and how the adults worked to qualify for their careers. Contact Joe Hemsley at email@example.com to volunteer or to request further information. Thanks!
